ACC’s Rice & Beans Challenge
The Rice & Beans Challenge is a week-long show of support and commitment for refugee resettlement. You’ll commit to raising funds for each meal you eat, or eating rice and beans instead. Many of the refugees ECDC African Community Center resettles come from refugees camps where they eat daily meals of rice and beans and live on less than $2 a day. Put yourself in their shoes. Every dollar raised from this challenge will go directly to programs benefiting refugees in our community.
Find 9 (or more) friends to join you so that you aren’t alone in this challenge! Decide the details of your challenge together- there are many variations available!
Set-up your fundraising page on Colorado Gives’ website for ECDC ACC. Go to coloradogives.org and click on “Fundraise for Your Favorite Non-profit.”
Use our R&B cookbook! Buy a week’s worth of your favorite rice and bean combos.
Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and social media connections about what you’re doing. Secure those donations so you can eat! We suggest a $25 donation per meal. Raise funds and eat what you wish; don’t raise funds and eat rice and beans. Pick a donation level that you are comfortable with!
Raise $525 ($25/meal; 3 meals for 7 days is 21 meals; 21 x $25=525) and you’ll get a $25 gift certificate to We Made This! Other gifts available too - please ask!
