Summer 2024 Internships

The African Community Center of Denver (ACC) is seeking hardworking interns who are passionate about working with refugees and eager to gain professional experience in a non-profit organization.

All Summer 2024 Internship applications must be submitted by May 22, 2024.

Email a resume highlighting your education, work, and volunteer experience as well as a cover letter explaining what attracts you to ACC and our community, why you're a good fit, and the three most valuable things you believe you bring and will contribute to our community to the Volunteer Manager at kate@acc-den.org.

Once the Volunteer Manager receives your cover letter and resume, they will contact you to set up an interview.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide compensation for interns due to funding restrictions. All internships with ACC are unpaid at this time.

Driving Opportunity Program Intern

Build. Guide. Support. Open new avenues to independence and self-sufficiency for refugee women looking to obtain their driver’s license. Gain non-profit program development experience while supporting the launch of ACC’s Driving Opportunity program, a multilingual and woman-led driving school for refugee women.

Refugee Resettlement Intern

Welcome. Connect. Coach. Provide case management core services to newly arrived refugees and immigrants including assisting with housing set-ups, airport pick-ups, orientation, public benefits applications, etc. Guide community members to set goals and refer them to different training and educational programs based on their identified needs and goals.

Refugee Job Readiness Intern (Match Grant Program)

Guide. Train. Connect. Work closely with recently resettled families to prepare them for their first job in the United States. Responsibilities include creating employment and career plans, providing job skills training to ease the transition to employment in the U.S., and referring participants to necessary training programs. Make a direct impact on the lives of newcomers by supporting families on the path to self-sufficiency the transition to life in Colorado.

Refugee Community Connections Intern

Connect. Facilitate. Integrate. Use your facilitation skills to coordinate and lead activities and/or classes designed to help new refugees connect with community resources and introduce tangible skills used to navigate life in America. Work alongside our Cultural Orientation Coordinator to ensure that refugee families are better equipped with knowledge of American customs and systems.

Refugee Intensive Case Management Intern

Guide. Strengthen. Impact. Use your experience in social work, psychology, or sociology to conduct case management activities for refugees with challenging needs that require special attention, including those with serious medical conditions, women at risk, and elderly refugees.

Communications Intern

Create. Share. Connect. Use your creativity and experience with social media to assist ACC in increasing brand awareness, amplifying refugee stories, and connecting with local communities. Assist the Development & Communications team with various aspects of nonprofit communications, including the creation of graphic design materials, scheduling social media posts across ACC channels, building email newsletter content, and developing impact stories to share with donors and ACC supporters.
